Black Indians & Enslavement by Native Americans
Native Americans tribes documented as The "Five Civilized Tribes"of the United States of America
(Choctaw, Chickasaw, Muscogee Creek, Cherokee, & Seminole Indians) have a recorded history of also forcibly enslaving Original African American people during a similar dehumanizing, brutal, chattel slavery as their European enslaver counterparts.
Our people who survived this slavery are known mostly as "Native American Freedmen" by the U.S. government, and are able to trace their ancestry today back to the Dawes Rolls, that was created by the American government during the Dawe's Commission that existed between 1898 and 1907.
They were left temporarily with no American or Indian tribal citizenship after the abolishment and emancipation of slavery from 1863 to 1865, until laws ratifying their freedom and tribal citizenship were implemented in a treaty of 1866 by the US government.
They still fight today for their tribal citizenship among The "Five Civilized Tribes".
